Ramaskrik will welcome special guests this year as both Ingrid Bolsø Berdal and Roar Uthaug join us at the festival. Believe it or not, it has been 20 years since Norway got its first true slasher film with Cold Prey. Uthaug’s feature film debut became a major box-office success and launched a franchise with two sequels. Together with some of the people who were part of the adventure, we will celebrate the anniversary at Ramaskrik with a special screening and a Cold Prey-themed party at the hotel.

When Cold Prey premiered in cinemas on Friday, October 13, 2006, it kickstarted the filmmaking journey of Roar Uthaug, future star Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, and the production company Fantefilm. The film attracted 257,000 cinema-goers in Norway alone. Altogether, the trilogy sold 677,000 tickets domestically and went on to gain international recognition, showcasing the Norwegian mountains to audiences around the world.

- Cold Prey is a milestone in Norwegian horror cinema, arriving at the very beginning of the new wave of Norwegian horror films. It is exactly the kind of film we at Ramaskrik love to celebrate 20 years later. Oppdal may not be as isolated as the location in the movie, but it offers the same atmosphere with mountains, snow, skiing and cold weather. Almost exactly 20 years later, we are inviting audiences to a screening and celebration at the Skifer Hotel, specially decorated for the occasion and featuring guests from the film, says festival director Morten Haagensen .

The film will, of course, be shown the way it is meant to be experienced: on the big screen.

- Watching Cold Prey in the cinema 20 years later will be a real treat. Ingrid Bolsø Berdal’s performance in the film is iconic in Norwegian cinema. Watching it with Berdal and director Roar Uthaug present will be something truly exclusive. It creates the perfect setting for the screening and a unique opportunity to hear the story behind the film,  says Haagensen.

Director Roar Uthaug is also looking forward to the celebration in Oppdal.

- I'm very excited to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Cold Prey together with fellow horror enthusiasts at Ramaskrik this autumn. Not only does Oppdal provide the perfect setting for our mountain horror film, but Ramaskrik is also a festival that is close to my heart. I couldn't imagine a better place to celebrate the film,” says Uthaug.

After Cold Prey, Uthaug and Berdal continued their collaboration with the medieval action film Escape before Uthaug went on to direct blockbuster productions such as The Wave, Tomb Raider, and Netflix hits Troll and Troll 2. He is currently working on a new horror project set among backpackers in Thailand, as well as several new Nordic productions. Perhaps we will hear more about these projects at Ramaskrik.

Ingrid Bolsø Berdal has enjoyed a long and distinguished career in film and television, both in Norway and internationally. Within the horror genre, she appeared in the acclaimed sequel Cold Prey 2, but her credits also include Chernobyl Diaries, ABCs of Death 2, Hellfjord, and Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters. She has also starred in popular television series such as Westworld, La Palma, and most recently Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole. She has firmly established herself as one of Norway’s leading screen stars.

The Cold Prey 20th anniversary celebration will take place during the festival on Friday, October 16.
